Last weekend our Senior String Group stepped beyond the comfort zone of school to participate on a public platform in the Maidstone Music Festival at Invicta Grammar School. Their hard work this term paid off with a really successful outcome. Avia E (Year 6), one of the group's most senior members, has written a report on the events of the day.

This week, children in Year 2 have continued to work hard to learn their times tables with some receiving their first TT Rockstars certificate in recognition of learning their ten, five and two times tables. They have also been preparing for the Christingle service, which is being held on Tuesday 6th December in the Church and hanging their beautiful Christmas tree decorations on our Pre-Prep tree.

If only parents could have heard the joys and squeals emanating from the classrooms and corridors on the first day of Advent, as the children explored our newly converted Winter Wonderland. Here in School, we all felt rather privileged to have helped to create this magical experience and we are of course very grateful to the small army of elves that arrived on Wednesday evening to help!

Inspired by Greek vases, children in Year 3 have created visually pleasing and informative sketchbook pages. The artistic historians used their Super Power of Looking to inform their drawings and reflect the style of the amazing ancient vases. Greek vases came in many shapes and sizes, from enormous water and wine mixing Kraters to tall, tiny oil holding Lekythos.

Following last year’s successful and popular Mandarin course, we once again put our Year 6 students up for this fascinating language challenge. This term, they swapped one of their weekly French lessons for a Friday afternoon of Mandarin. The sessions have been partly a live lesson with an online teacher, and partly a digital programme of interesting language and cultural activities and games.
