Astounding Action Teams
As part of pupil voice, students are encouraged to set up an Action Team if they have an idea to make a difference to the School community. This could be an idea to change something in School for the better or to share a passion. They give students the power to make decisions and become leaders of change.

Following last year’s successful and popular Mandarin course, we once again put our Year 6 students up for this fascinating language challenge. This term, they swapped one of their weekly French lessons for a Friday afternoon of Mandarin. The sessions have been partly a live lesson with an online teacher, and partly a digital programme of interesting language and cultural activities and games.

This week, children in Years 3 to Year 6 celebrated both Artsmark Week and belonging to their castles, Bodiam, Hever, Leeds and Rochester, by creating castle community trees. They discussed how the tree is a symbol of their castle community and how it is strengthened by everyone helping, supporting and being kind to each other.

Our Year 3 children have been using white wax crayons and watercolours to create secret landscapes. Secret because they first drew their ‘invisible’ landscape with a white Crayola Crayon. They used mark making to create textural effects and then the magic began!
