It is a stunning afternoon here at School. The School site looks beautiful today, bathed in sunshine with hardly a cloud in the sky. Sunrises and sunsets have also been breath taking; I wonder how many more days we can have like this as the winter progresses.

Indoor Hockey Success

Over the Christmas break, several of our pupils competed at the Indoor Hockey UK Championships. This is a tournament ran independently of England Hockey, aiming to give more athletes a taste of Indoor Hockey, in a highly competitive environment.

Children in Reception were inspired by their topic ‘Floating and Sinking’ and enthusiastically embraced the artistic potential that their scientific exploration offered. They discussed and experimented with floating flowers, working in pairs to create water scenes using natural objects.

As anyone who witnessed the Celebration Assembly this morning will know, mistakes are a fact of life. It is how we respond to them that matters. I hope that my response in front of the children when faced with a delayed arrival, lack of connectivity, and then clumsiness and forgetfulness on my part, will have helped to demonstrate that we all make mistakes and that calmness and self-deprecation (as well as learning from the mistakes of course) are often the best policies!

Nursery have had an extremely busy week learning about all things winter! Little Steps children have created their own winter trees, as well as creating their very own snowmen in a bottle! Young Climbers have also created their own snowmen as well as their own snowflakes from lollypop sticks and their own winter trees!

Equestrian Excellence

Eve G (Year 6) and new Equestrian team member Albert S (Year 5) competed in the Grass Roots Show Jumping competition over Christmas against other schools, with great success. Isla D (Year 6) and Amelia P (Year 5) were also out competing with the senior team at a Show Jumping competition in Staplehurst achieving some incredible results.
