In Humanities, 4S is learning about the fascinating Roman Empire. They started by looking at Google Maps, locating modern-day Maidstone and Rome and observing their features in satellite view. The children studied where these places are within the world map and their distance from each other.
They then travelled back in time over 2000 years, ready to explore the life and times of Ancient Rome. Do you know the story of the twins Romulus and Remus, and how Rome was created? The children have also studied the social hierarchy of Ancient Rome, discussing which tier they would like to be in and why: slave, plebeian, patrician, senator, consul, or emperor. Who would you like to be? Ancient Rome is a wonderful slice of history and we cannot wait to study more!
