In their English lessons, our Year 4 students are studying The Iron Man by Ted Hughes – a timeless tale of good versus bad, working together and relationships.
This classic text never ceases to awe children and it is wonderful to watch their reactions as the story unfolds. The children have explored features of figurative language within the book including, similes, metaphors and onomatopoeia.
They wrote an A-Z of onomatopoeic words – not as easy as it may sound! The children also designed their own Iron Man traps, describing them using similes; how did they catch such a magnificent and huge being? This is definitely a much-needed book on your reading shelf.
