Last Friday, our Reception children took part in their weekly Write Dance session in the Pre-Prep Hall. They enjoyed the story of Big Water Shute, explored the language and listened to the lyrics of the song.
During this activity, children are encouraged to use their voices to describe the actions as they move and dance. Mark-making and movement drawings ensure that the children progress from whole-body dance moves to developing their fine motor skills required for formal writing, which provides a positive learning environment. They use their scumbling surfaces to explore whilst drawing using both hands so that they strengthen their core, shoulders and all of their muscles promoting a successful outcome for each and every learner.
