Year 3 have made use of resources at home to design and construct friends for Superhoot, our wise School owl.  Wisely, they looked at different types of owls to gather ideas for the design of their egg box owl. In addition, they drew owls; to become familiar with their features – black or yellow eyes, tufts or not to tuft and different colour combinations for feathers.

Cutting skills came to the fore as Year 3 transformed their egg box into an owl and experimented with using recycled newspaper and magazine pages for different feathery effects – spiky edges, curled ends and tightly rolled balls. The innovative designers also created stands for their owls so that they can stand proudly and hoot alongside Super Hoot!
