Due to the current circumstances, this year’s annual United Westminster and Grey Coat Foundation Athletics competition took place virtually over the course of the Summer Term, between SVS, Emanuel School, Queen Anne’s School and The Grey Coat Hospital.
The SVS team once again performed incredibly well with the boys’ team winning The Godfrey Trophy for the fourth year running and the girls coming runners up in the Millennium Cup, narrowly losing out to Queen Anne’s School, Caversham.
A special mention must go to our record-breakers, and also the pupils who were the best overall athletes in their respective age categories: Junior Girl Best Athlete – Evie Smith (Second Form); Junior Boy Best Athlete – Archie Burden (Second Form); Intermediate Boy Best Athlete – Alfie Stratton (Fourth Form); Evie Smith also broke the Junior Girls’ 800-metre record, completing it in 2 minutes, 32 seconds. She also broke the Junior Girls’ High Jump record jumping 1.55 metres; Ben Wilding (Second Form) broke the Junior Boys’ Javelin throwing a distance of 33.63 metres; Elizabeth Myers (Third Form) broke the Intermediate Girls’ Shot Put with a distance of 9.4 metres.
Thank you to all the pupils who participated in this year’s virtual event.
