Our Reception children had a fantastic time at Tyland Barn exploring their new topic, Minibeasts. They had the opportunity to go pond dipping and identify the creepy crawlies they found. Swishing the nets around in the pond was great fun! The children then took their minibeasts to the onsite classroom and had a closer look through the microscope.
Later in the day, the children went on a minibeast hunt, exploring the grounds of the nature reserve. They lifted logs, explored a bug hotel, lifted carpets on compost heaps and swept nets through meadows to find an array of creatures. Of course, the coach journey and packed lunch were a big highlight of their first School outing too!
