This week, the children in Year 6 were treated to a private showing of The Senior School’s performance of William Shakespeare’s, The Winter’s Tale. Perfect timing as they themselves have just finished studying Macbeth and are currently very excited to discover the title and their parts for their performance in the Lent Term!
Spoken in true Shakespearean language, the pupils followed the story of Leontes, the king of Sicilia, his wife, Hermione, their daughter, Perdita, and the trials and tribulations of their lives. Being a comedic tragedy, the actors had the children awed in stone silence and laughing out loud. A wonderful experience to be part of, which has most definitely whet the children’s whistle even more for their performance of a yet-to-be-announced play (they will find out next week!).
