The month of October embraces a worldwide celebration of drawing with The Big Draw Festival. It promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool for learning, expression and invention. In addition, it raises the profile of drawing as a tool for wellbeing, thought, creativity and cultural engagement.
At SVPS, our children are encouraged to develop their drawing skills from an early age and mark-making and experimentation are at the forefront of expressing their creativity. “Draw what you see and not what you think you see” is a familiar phrase in the Art Room and sketchbooks are becoming an extension of their drawing practice, experimentation and inspiration.
The Big Draw Festival theme for 2022 is ‘Come back to Colour’ and celebrates a rediscovery of health, vibrancy and joy in the colours that surround us in nature, family culture, heritage, experimentation and more!
Mrs Savage is inviting everyone in the SVPS Community, children, parents, friends and family, to be part of the world’s biggest community of drawing enthusiasts by creating a drawing that can be displayed as part of a SVPS Big Draw Community Artwork. Drawings should be sent in to School or emailed to Mrs Savage by Friday 11th November. Her mission is to get everyone drawing, so please support The Big Draw Festival and draw anything that captures your fancy and colour!
