Our Fourth Form Design and Technology students have been working hard to complete their timber project this term.
The students have been applying their theoretical knowledge of timbers through a practical project where they have created their own plywood boxes topped with acrylic lids.
Students demonstrated a range of skills both using hand tools and CNC machinery to create their boxes that feature comb, dovetail, dowel and mitre joints alongside laser-cut, line bent acrylic lids.
They also applied their understanding of timber finishes to select from a range of finishing options to enhance the aesthetics and protection of their boxes.
Mr Kirk and Miss Latter were really impressed with the product outcomes and the students thoroughly enjoyed learning a range of new skills to put into practice their theoretical understanding.
