Last Friday, we were delighted to host our annual Golf Day at Chart Hills Golf Club. With the launch of the SVS Foundation, the event was rebranded this year to reflect the wider community it serves. Despite the new name, the golf was of the traditional high standard with some excellent rounds throughout. In total, 31 players turned out to play including Old Suttonians, current parents, past parents and former staff. We were delighted with the mix and it was good to see many new parents involved.
The sun-drenched course played well, though some fast greens caught out a number of players, so the Stableford scores were lower than previous years, though still very respectable. After an enjoyable day, the scores were totted up and the winning team was that of Sam Wroclawski (2003 C), Jeremy Trott (Parent SVS) and Mark Garner (Parent SVPS). As a three-ball, their Stableford score was calculated using a randomly-selected ‘ghost player’ as a means of balancing out with the other four-balls. As such, a mention should go to their unbeknownst teammate, Andrew Myers (Parent SVS). Sam Wroclawski also took home the prize for the longest drive and the Nearest-the-Pin contest was won by Jerry Hansford (Parent SVS).
All-in-all, an enjoyable day was had and we are grateful to all of the players who came along. We look forward to next year’s competition which, for those keen on advanced planning, will be held on Friday 18th September 2020. We look forward to seeing you there.
