In RE, Year 5 have been finding out about Buddhist worship and beliefs. Buddhists do not believe in a soul. Instead, they believe that life continues in a cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth that goes on and on (until nirvana is reached and the cycle stops).
Buddhists believe that our actions in life have an effect on the next life. This is called karma. When a person is reincarnated, the life they led in their previous life has a direct impact on their next life. What would karma or reincarnation look like? Year 5 dug deep into their creativity, as well as drawing on their previous Buddhist knowledge to depict the beliefs visually using colours, patterns, images and words.
They recreated a Buddhist belief by creating a karma or reincarnation composition that, meaningfully, expressed their personal interpretations and understanding.
