This week, children in Reception have been learning some new sounds, ‘qu’, ‘x’, and ‘ng’. They enjoyed revisiting two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes and had a try at reading the times on a clock.
The children were able to experience shapes in all sorts of ways, they cut pentagons and hexagons from play dough, created tessellating patterns, and made two-dimensional shape monsters.
On Wednesday, Mr Drew, a meteorologist and father to two of the Reception pupils, came to School to tell the children all about rainbows. The prisms we were able to borrow from the Science Lab also linked beautifully to three-dimensional shapes. The children have enjoyed making rainbows all over the place. Thank you, Mr Drew!
