As the Oxbridge colleges begin to welcome students back for the Michaelmas Term, we would like to wish Old Suttonians Lara Savage (2020 H) and Francis Romano (2019 L) all the best as they settle in to their new surroundings. Having achieved a fantastic set of A Level results this summer, Lara will be reading Veterinary Medicine at Jesus College, Cambridge. Francis, who has taken a gap year after completing his A Levels last summer, will be studying Theology, Religion and Philosophy of Religion at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
As they both begin their respective Oxbridge journeys, we are also delighted to provide an update on another Old Suttonian, Jessica Grindlay (2017 F), who is now entering her fourth year at St Hilda’s College, Oxford studying Mathematics and Philosophy.
Jess’ time at St Hilda’s has gone from strength-to-strength. Last summer, following impressive second year results, she was made an Allen Exhibitioner and this year, having achieved First Class Honours in both Mathematics and Philosophy, she has now become a full Allen Scholar. She was also the recipient of the university-wide Gibbs Prize in Mathematics and Philosophy for the highest performance in the 2020 Philosophy Finals. Jess will now begin her fourth year working towards her Masters (MMathPhil), which will involve a Mathematics thesis (where she is going to focus on the development of intuitionistic logic) and a Philosophy thesis (which is on feminist epistemology). We wish her all the best for another successful year.
