On Thursday the Mzwandile XV visited SVS for an afternoon of hospitality, traditional singing and Rugby.
The 2024 Mzwandile Mali Schools Rugby Squad is made up of the best 22 players from the Eastern Cape townships in South Africa. This tour is, of course, an excellent experience for all players, and it will hopefully raise the profile of rugby in the townships, attracting further attention from local rugby scouts and clubs.
The afternoon began with the Mzwandile XV enjoying lunch in the Refectory, followed by a traditional South African song sung to all diners present. After lunch, the players and coaches relaxed over a hot drink in TC’s before taking part in a training session with the SVS 1st XV.
The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the SVS rugby players to meet boys from South African townships and learn about their culture and spirit through the vehicle of rugby.
