Year 5 have been using their drawing skills to capture a monster in a jar.
First, they had to hunt to find the perfect jar to put their monster in. Focusing on form, they sharpened their observational skills to draw jars with an ellipse and a smiley bottom (a curved base on a cylindrical shape enhances 3D form)! It had to be a transparent, shiny jar so Year 5 polished their use of contour lines.
Imaginations ran wild as Year 5 created their own monster; inspired by examples from a wonderful book, Flanimals by Ricky Gervais. Expertly, they caught their monsters in lovely colours, with subtle shading and linear detail. Captured in jars, the monsters’ true artistic characters are clear for all to see!
