This week has seen a number of very difficult decisions being made in Pre-Prep and Prep. It has been really amazing to see the various entries for the Pre-Prep Wildlife Artist competition; the standard of work submitted has been better than ever and judging has been incredibly difficult. In the end, Mrs Savage finalised her choices and these were shared in our assembly this week. Do have a look at the video montage of all the children’s work. We hope you and your families enjoy seeing the whole range of creative endeavours on show!
What has been so special in these difficult times is how the children have found inspiration in the wildlife just beyond their doorsteps; we had pictures of hedgehogs, collages of butterflies and even a spider with deadly fangs. The children have had lots of fun creating their work and we were particularly impressed with the use of ‘nature’ itself in some of their collage work.
Prep has also completed their Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, with Mr Watkins announcing his winners in Celebration Assembly this morning. As with the Wildlife Artist competition, the standard of entries was incredibly high and there were a record number of Highly Commended awards, as well as the winners in Junior and Senior sections.
Elsewhere in Pre-Prep, our Little Lambs children have been focusing on building shelters, starting with shelters for their animals and then looking at the shelter that Mary and Joseph would have needed. In their outside area, a beautiful stable has been created, where the children have had fun role-playing and re-creating the Christmas story.
As the week draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the success that all our Pre-Prep children have felt this past week. They have been on stage, rehearsing and practising their various performances, to get ready for filming their Christmas performances. Year 1 and 2 have finished this week and we are so incredibly proud of all of their achievements. Once the editing has been completed, we look forward to sharing these films with you to enjoy in a few weeks’ time.
