What a fraction-mad week the mathematics department has had! Pupils in Years 4 to 6 have been going fraction crazy in the classroom.
Those in Year 4 have been cutting up bread to help identity, compare and find equivalent fractions, whilst Year 6 pupils have been simplifying and converting fraction Smarties into decimals and percentages. They then went on to investigate the weight and lengths, and plot graphs of their Smartie findings.
Finally, on Friday, Year 6 pupils completed some peer teaching with the Year 5 children. They revised simplifying and equivalent fractions, and some groups went on to teach them about adding fractions, improper and mixed fractions. Our Year 6 pupils were excellent leaders and Year 5 pupils learnt lots of new skills!
