Children in Year 1 have had an excellent week settling back into School. They have enjoyed their introduction to our topic: ‘Let’s go on a safari’ and have been using the role play areas in both classrooms to spy wild animals in the African plains.

In English, they have enjoyed learning about the Big Five, researching and writing non-chronological reports, as well as designing their own animals to describe. The children have been reading, reciting and understanding the place value of numbers to 100. They are becoming confident to use one hundred squares, as well as writing these in digits and words.

In Science, the children have understood what the weather is like in each season, designing suitable outfits for teddy bears to wear.
