Kingdon Lecture

Senior School
11 Mar 25

On Wednesday, 5th March, we were delighted to host a special Kingdon Lecture for our Academic Scholars and Exhibitioners, alongside their families. The evening featured guest speakers Helen Davis and Chris Mepham from Farmers for Schools, who generously shared their expertise on the ever-evolving world of farming and agriculture.

Helen and Chris gave an informative presentation, discussing the ongoing challenges facing the future of farming in the UK, with a specific focus on livestock farming and forestry in the South East. They addressed critical issues such as rewilding, the impact of Brexit, and the significant challenges posed by climate change. Their insights provided a comprehensive look at the complexities of modern farming and the vital role it plays in our environment and economy.

The students were highly engaged, asking a wide range of thought-provoking questions, which led to lively and enriching discussions. The evening was an excellent opportunity for everyone to learn more about the sector’s current realities and future potential. We hope to follow up on some of the many conversations started at the evening’s insightful lecture.
