On Thursday, we hosted the Kent School’s U16 seven-a-side Rugby tournament. We were blessed with some incredible weather, which was in total contrast to the constant downpour 24 hours earlier.
We were divided up into four pools of five teams and in our pool, we faced Colfe’s School, St Dunstan’s College, Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys and The Duke of York’s Royal Military School. The boys were fantastic and approached each game with great enthusiasm and endeavour. They won the first three games, much to the delight of the supporting parents. The final game in the pool was against The Duke of York’s and their pace, power and the bounce of the ball went against us, however, we still progressed to the quarter-final stage as runners up. The quarter-final was against a strong Ravens Wood School and whilst the squad put on a gallant effort, Ravens Wood School were victors, winning 24–14.
Next week, the squad play in the prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens which will be the final competitive rugby event for the season.
Thank you to the staff who supported the squad and well done to Brennan O’Keefe and Jack Page (both Fourth Form) who joined Callum Baker, Oliver Barr, Sam Knighton, Oscar MacGregor, Harry Mundell, Alfie Stratton, Finley Thomas, Liam Thomas and Jack Walsh (all Fifth Form) for an excellent performance.
