What glorious weather for the first week of Summer term! Many children and parents have commented on our beautiful grounds and I have passed these kind words on to the wonderful team of gardeners who work so hard to ensure our children learn and play in this most glorious setting. After weeks of gloom, it really has been a joy to see and hear the children outside making the most of the space and the sunshine.
This week, I have very much enjoyed hearing about the SVPS Ski trip that took place over Easter. The snow was great and I am delighted to hear how hard the children tried, thereby ensuring that they made excellent progress with their skills on the slopes. The staff thoroughly enjoyed their time with the children and I am very grateful to Mrs Cotton, Miss Essu, Mr Evans, Mrs Farrell, Mr Strydom and Mr Watkins for accompanying the trip. Mr Evans is, already, looking into the possibility of running another Ski trip next year, so do watch this space!
The children made an enthusiastic contribution to our Beginning of Term Assembly. They are all very keen to embrace this term’s Learning Powers of Curiosity and Originality and loved being given the opportunity, by Mr Watkins, to ask and answer questions beginning with the words ‘What if…?’. During the assembly, we also appointed our new Head Boy and Head Girl for the term; I have no doubt that Rhys and Sienna, as well as all the other Year 6 Prefects, will make a valuable contribution to many aspects of School life and they will relish the leadership opportunities their new roles provide for them.
My traditional beginning of term letter will be sent out early next week and it will highlight some of the many events that await the whole community over the upcoming months. It will be wonderful to have our first ‘normal’ Summer Term for several years and I know we are all excited to make the very most of each and every opportunity.
