Flambeau has grown rapidly since its inception in 1975 and is one of the leading plastic manufacturers in the UK, specialising in plastic manufacturing processes using blow moulding, injection moulding and complete bespoke plastic moulding solutions. It is with great fortune that, after a brief stop at the Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum, our Fourth Form Design and Technology students were able to visit these specialist facilities. They relished the opportunity to view inside the factory and gain first-hand experience of the polymer manufacturing industrial setting.
We can’t thank John Wingfield (Managing Director) enough for our visit and the knowledge he shared of the manufacturing systems. The CAD (Computer Aided Design) simulations, Electronic Data Interchange and Just In Time production are of huge benefit to the students studying the Design and Technology syllabus at GCSE level. The insight into the finer workings of the different machines, and the variety of products created has been a valuable experience.
