This week, Evie Smith (Third Form) has had two incredible sporting triumphs – she has been selected to the England Hockey U16 training squad in November and also qualified for the Swim England National Winter Championships.
Firstly, Evie has been selected to the November training camp for the England U16 Girls’ squad. As Evie was a non-travelling at Futures Cup this summer (England Hockey’s premier junior event for regional sides), she was invited to a residential selection camp during the October Half Term with fellow players who England selectors had seen little of. This open-trial format had been bought in over the past few years to increase the selection pool for England Hockey and offer more opportunities to players. After the camps, a select few have been invited to the England U16 squad.
This is an outstanding achievement in itself, but a phenomenal one considering that Evie is currently in the U14 age group! The selection is a testament to the hard work and dedication that Evie has given to her Hockey over the last few years.
Secondly, Evie attended Swim England Southeast Region Winter Regionals at the weekend and achieved a Winter National time in 100-metre Individual Medley. Evie will be attending Swim England National Winter Championships on the 5th of December.
We are so proud of Evie and her fantastic attitude, good luck in your upcoming trials and competitions!
