Due to the difficulties we are faced with due to Covid-19, the DofE has made some temporary changes for the completion of awards. These are currently in place until July 2021. For the volunteering, skills and physical sections, the DofE has relaxed the one-hour each week condition.
You can continue to complete your activity weekly or you can do two hours every other week, up to one day per month. In addition, parents and other family members can act as assessors but the pupils must keep a log as evidence, which must be uploaded onto their e-DofE account so that we can sign it off at School.
We are exploring the possibility of holding the following expeditions this year if the current restrictions remain in place. Pupils will be given a detailed safety briefing prior to each expedition, and more details will follow in due course.
The plan is as follows:
Bronze qualifying: end of the Summer Term
Silver practice: Lent Half Term
Silver qualifying: end of the Summer Term/Summer Holiday
Gold practice: Easter Holiday
Gold qualifying: end of the Summer Term/Summer Holiday
For all expeditions, pupils will walk locally and spend overnight at home.
If Silver participants are 16 or over and they wish to complete the Gold award, they can use the Gold practice as their Silver qualifying expedition.
