Year 3 have been working with Scratch this term. After several weeks of practising logging in and getting used to the Surface Go devices, they have been getting familiar with the coding language of Scratch.
They have worked on two different programs so far. The first one was a program to create two characters having a conversation. They planned their instructions on paper first and made sure they included the ‘wait for three seconds’ command. This allowed the characters to wait while the other talked.
The second program used the pen tools in Scratch, to allow the children to design procedures where Scratch the cat could draw shapes, like squares. They also experimented with different pen colours and line thicknesses. Next week we plan to try and draw more complicated procedures to draw circles.
