In this week’s Coding Club, we decided to use the new webcams, which have been installed for our online Chinese Mandarin language lessons. We discovered we could program the cameras to interact with Scratch and make a simple game where we had to catch bats using motion detection from the camera and waving our hands.
Initially, it was quite complicated working out our variables and adjusting the light levels to improve detection, but once we understood how to increase the challenge (by adding more bats after each wave), we had great fun testing it and beating each other’s scores!
