On Wednesday, 2nd October, the Sutton Valence School Chamber Choir delivered a spectacular performance at the Clothworkers’ Guild dinner, held at Drapers’ Hall, London. The luxurious décor and historical artistry of Drapers’ Hall provided a stunning backdrop for the choir’s performance.
As the choir took the stage in front of nearly 800 guests, the beautiful surroundings enhanced our harmonies, immersing the audience in the music. The repertoire included Evening Prayer by Engelbert Humperdinck and O Holy Night by Placide Cappeau.
Georgina G gave a confident rendition of Lascia ch’io pianga by Handel, while Leòn K-S captivated the audience with his performance of a Georgian dance on the cello. Both received rapturous applause, showcasing the versatility and talent of the group.
The atmosphere at Drapers’ Hall was both formal and welcoming, providing the perfect setting for the choir’s best performance. The hall’s elegant chandeliers and intricate woodwork harmonised beautifully with the musical artistry. Guests were treated to exquisite music that the choir had been preparing over the last few weeks. Despite the limited time, the dedication and skill of both the choir and the cellist shone through, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
