Year 6 had their hands full in Design and Technology this week, working hard on their lampshade project. Their aim is to construct a lampshade from recycled materials that fits the design brief – to be functional, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing.
After analysing a variety of lampshades made from recycled materials and applying their own creativity and innovation, the children had some bright ideas for their designs. Using their hands-on skills to manipulate and reuse materials such as card, paper, can, sticks, straws, cutlery, plastic and wire, their lampshades are looking eye-catching whilst being environmentally friendly.
It is all hands on deck to finish their lampshades so that they can shine in their Leavers Exhibition at the end of the term.
