International Admissions and Agents
Students wishing to join the School from overseas should initially contact the Admissions team to confirm that there are places available in the required year group and boarding house. We are happy to receive enquiries from educational agents or directly from families.
The next step is to complete a registration form and provide this to the School accompanied by the non-refundable registration fee of £120.00, copies of the applicant’s passport and recent academic reports from the student’s current school.
Once the prospective student has been registered with the School, arrangements will be made for him or her to complete relevant entrance examinations and to have an online interview with the Headmaster, or another member of the Senior Management Team (SMT).
An offer of a place at the School will be made following the successful performance in the entrance examination and interview. To accept the offer of a place, applicants are required to complete the School’s digital acceptance form and pay the international student deposit. For applicants whose normal residence is outside of the UK, the deposit is equal to one term’s fees.
Boarding facilities are available for boys and girls from the age of 11, enabling us to offer high-quality British education from First Form (Year 7). Whilst our key entry points are First Form (Year 7), Third Form (Year 9) and Lower Sixth (Year 12), if space is available we may be able to accommodate students wishing to join in other year groups.
We offer excellent support to students for whom English is not their first language and students achieve excellent results in Cambridge English, IGCSE and IELTS examinations. If the student has English as an Additional Language, they will attend EAL lessons in place of First Language English. They will only be moved out of EAL in exceptional circumstances and they will sit the IGCSE in EAL rather than the English Language and Literature exams.
Please note that for students joining the School on a short-term basis (for a year, or less), an IGCSE in EAL would be the only examinable qualification. For those hoping to sit GCSE or A Level examinations, they would need to study with us for the duration of the course (i.e. for the full two years).
We are an official Tier 4 sponsor and provide assistance to prospective students who need a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance to Study) document to apply for their visa. There is a small charge of £405.00 for this assistance. This fee is charged during the student’s first term at the School.
Guardians
It is a condition of entry to Sutton Valence School that students without a parent resident in the UK must have a suitable guardian living in the UK to whom parental responsibility may be delegated. The School works closely with AEGIS, the Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students. You can view a list of the AEGIS Gold Standard accredited guardianship organisations here and the AEGIS Preliminary accredited guardianship organisations here.
