On Friday last week, Year 5 marched over to SVS and enjoyed a well-drilled afternoon of fun, organised by the Officers and NCOs of the CCF. After a delicious lunch in the refectory, the children paraded, despite the rain, where they paid attention and were put at ease by Major Prem. In small groups, the children experienced a selection of activities from rifle shooting in the range, laser tag, command tasks, the flight simulator, archery and the assault course. The day ended with prizes for the best cadets and commendations from Senior Officer, Lt Col Millbery. A big salute from all of Year 5 to everyone who worked so hard to make this a most enjoyable afternoon.
A few quotes from some of the Year 5 children:
“The best day I have ever had!” – “It was really fun!” – “A unique experience!” – “It’s not just about getting muddy – we learned loads of useful skills.” – “I loved learning how to salute properly!” – “People have their own styles, but everyone enjoyed the CCF experience.” – “I can’t wait until Third Form so I can join the CCF!”
