What a weekend! The Marden girls are through to the EH Cup final. It was an incredible game to watch and we are still buzzing now!
The Marden Girls U14 team surged into the England Hockey U14 Tier 2 Knockout Championship Final with a resounding 6-2 win over Bowdon. The team travelled to Manchester on Saturday ahead of the match. A lively dinner helped to build team spirit ahead of the big game.
Marden arrived at the ground early and were put through a rigorous warm-up. It paid off; Marden raced to a 3-0 lead in 15 minutes and never looked back. The team played fluently down both wings and were incisive on every entry into the D. The second half was more even as Bowdon battled. Resilient defence and some strong saves kept the hosts out early in the second half.
At 4-1 the game looked settled but Marden didn’t let up and victory was theirs. An amazing performance from the team including: Sydney W, Nancy B, Ella D, Izzy and Georgie G (all Third Form) and Charlotte S (Second Form).
The final is being played on 22nd April at the Nottingham National Hockey Centre.
