Performance season is upon us, and it started with a bang last Friday evening when the Year 3 and 4 children presented their Informal Soloists’ Concert, still dressed up as an eclectic array of favourite book characters! Despite the concert rounding off an exciting and fun-filled World Book Day, the children dug deep and found the energy to put on a spectacular and polished series of individual performances demonstrating an exceptionally high standard of playing from such youngsters. Well done one and all.
This week it has been the turn of the Pre-Prep children to take to the stage, with the Year 2 Performing Arts Showcase. A combination of poetry recitals and individual and group musical performances was delivered with a great sense of fun against a backdrop of the children’s stunning and imaginative artwork. All the Year 2 children were involved and even some Year 1 children, as members of the Pre-Prep Ukulele Group, which gave its first performance of the academic year.
Looking ahead to next week, all the children in Years 3 to 6 will be taking part in the Spring Concert, celebrating the broad scope of musical opportunities on offer here at SVPS. This will include the full range of choirs through from Junior Choir to Chamber Choir, as well as instrumental groups from the Clarinet and Rock Groups right through to the Orchestra. It promises to be a hugely entertaining evening and the children are looking forward to sharing the results of their hard work this term with family and friends!
