In Design and Technology, Year 5 pupils have been making bespoke jewellery. Inspired by Tudor jewellery, their one-of-a-kind creations combined elements of the past, but were firmly rooted in the future.
Contemporary in design, the Year 5 jewellers used wire to construct their pieces; twisting, wrapping, hammering and curling to manipulate the metal to reflect their carefully drawn, detailed designs.
Embellishment in the form of wooden, glass and hand-made recycled paper beads, colourful wire and cardboard jewels adorned their jewellery and took into consideration the responsibility of sustainable designing.
Using Surface Pros, the children independently photographed their collections and arranged the images on a PowerPoint slide, to ensure that their jewellery looked picture perfect.
