At the Prep School, learning is driven by curiosity, shaped by challenge and supported by a culture that encourages pupils to think independently, work together and persevere when things become difficult.
Our teachers bring subjects to life and help pupils approach new ideas with confidence. We know each child well and can guide them in ways that fit how they learn best. A mistake is treated as a sign that a pupil is pushing themselves, not something to be avoided.
Some pupils flourish through practical investigation, some through lively discussion, others through quiet reflection.
At the heart of this approach are our Learning Powers. These habits are celebrated through our Super Hoot rewards and form an important part of the culture of the Prep School.
This same spirit is at the heart of our Fairley Club, which invites pupils to dig deeper into how things work and to explore ideas well beyond the usual lesson. Inspired by the Senior School’s Fairley Talks, sessions have ranged from the science behind musical sound to the mathematics of chance.
Our classrooms are places where pupils enjoy challenge and learn to take genuine pride in their progress.
