As Autumn continues to embrace us, the School has once again been a vibrant and vivacious place this week. Highlights have included the Year 6 concert last night, with the accomplishment and bravery of the pupils much admired by parents and staff alike, and the Bookshare in Years 3 to 6 this afternoon (the Reception to Year 2 Bookshare will take place on Thursday 1st December). There were also bustling coffee mornings for parents of children in Nursery and in Years 3 and 4, with some helpful feedback for the School about a range of matters.

On that note, the Parents’ Consultation Group (PCG) meets next Friday for the first time this academic year. Thank you to the parents who have expressed interest; I am pleased to say that every single year group, from Nursery to Year 6, will be represented by at least one parent. In time, the parents on the PCG will solicit agenda items from across the parent body. For next week though, if other parents would like to suggest topics for discussion, then please do email Mrs Leckie, although please note that we have a fairly full agenda already so we may not get to all items next week.

Of course, today has also seen the School mark Remembrance Day. The whole school, including the youngest Nursery children and all staff, lined up in front of School House with some readings and poetry, including from the Head Girl, Alice W, and the Head Boy, Elliot E. This was followed by two minutes silence and the Last Post played by former SVPS pupil and current SVS pupil, Harry Heyworth (Second Form). The event was beautifully observed by all, and I could not have been prouder of each and every one of them.

As well as the PCG meeting, next week sees both a coffee morning to meet the Learning Support team on Monday morning and a visit by local MP, Helen Whately, on Friday. In the meantime, best wishes for the weekend and I will hope to see some of you at the latest SVS Open Morning tomorrow and also as many as possible at the SVPSPA Fireworks tomorrow night.
