The SVPS Music Department, not known for its quietness, has sprung into this new academic year with a resounding bang! All our visiting music teachers have returned and one-to-one lessons are well underway again. Trial lessons for new starters are also in full swing. Some 34 (yes, 34!) children have applied to take up a musical instrument since the end of the last academic year and our visiting music teachers are working hard to give the children taster sessions to get a feel for the instruments they are interested in. This augurs well for our groups and ensembles who have also resumed their rehearsals this week with many new members among them.
Individual tuition is offered on violin, viola, ‘cello, guitar, flute, clarinet, trumpet, cornet, trombone, piano, drum kit and voice. To help identify and match children with the instrument to which they are best suited, all our teachers offer a free trial lesson before a firm commitment to starting lessons is made. The start of an academic year is always a time when teachers are most likely to have spaces in their timetable to take on new pupils.
So, if your child is interested in learning an instrument please do apply using the Application Form that is available on the Parent Portal for all children in Years 2 to 6. If you need any further information please feel free to contact our Director of Music, Mrs Anna Lordon (lordona@svs.org.uk). Here is looking forward to a marvellously musical term ahead!
