We are delighted to share that Alexandra Tunnicliff (First Form), having played for Kent Cricket this summer, has been awarded her county cap by one of the England squad. Alexandra talks about this incredible experience below:

“On Wednesday, I went with Kent Cricket to my capping ceremony at the Women’s England vs India ODI match. There, we watched part of the first innings and we saw an epic catch by Danni Wyatt and four more amazing wickets, but unfortunately the Indians still managed to get 333 runs.

At the interval we all had to lay our Kent caps down on a table. We then got into a line in alphabetical order ready to meet one of the England players. Before we were given our caps, my friend and I saw Izzy Wong so we waved at her and, to our surprise, she waved back. The England star who was chosen to give us our caps was Alice Davison-Richards.

The reason why she was chosen was because she plays for Kent and for England. As we walked up to her (in our line) we were all whispering to each other about how nervous we were. After the girls in front of me got her picture taken, I stepped forward when a lady said my name for the whole ground to hear.

When Alice gave me my cap I could see myself on the big screen which everyone could see. I shook her hand and we smiled for a picture. As I walked back to my friends I still did not believe that this happened. After all our individual pictures were taken we got a group picture with Alice. As soon as the picture was taken, we got back in our line and walked back to where our families were to watch the second innings. I will always remember this day, the day I got to meet an England player.”
