On Thursday evening, the Music department held an informal concert for the juniors. These concerts are there to allow pupils to gain experience in playing in front of a small audience (especially useful before Examinations) and also playing works which may be “work in progress”. This allows pupils to assess what areas may require more practice.
Unfortunately the programme was reduced due to illness (lots of flu bugs going around) but a small appreciative audience enjoyed the young performers:
Otis Meneses-Bautista (First Form) – Voice
Bart’s Where is Love from Oliver
Grace Manning-Greene (First Form) – Violin
Piazzolla’s Chiquilin de Bachin
Emily Slipper (Second Form) – Piano
Sibelius’ Joueur de Harpe
Avery Fletcher (Second Form) – Violin
Handel’s Sonata in F Major 1st movement
Evie Smith (First Form) – Voice
Trad arr. Althouse’s Shenandoah
Sophie Browning (Third Form) – Violin
Bach’s Giga from E Major Partita
Jack Price (Lower Sixth) – Violin
Lalo’s Symphony Espagnole 1st Movement
As you may have noticed, the last performer is Jack Price, a Lower Sixth Form player. Although he is definitely not a junior, he was performing for two reasons: one, to give the younger players something to aspire to, and two, to give him more experience playing in front of an audience, ready for his auditions to Music colleges next year.
Thanks go to all parents and staff who attended, the performers and Mrs Holmes.
