Year 6 have displayed their paintings along the gallery walls outside the Art Room. Inspired by Marc Chagall and his lithographs of roosters, Year 6 have been feathering their artistic skills by closely observing pictures of the feathered fowls.
Starting by drawing pencil sketches of eyes, tails and combs, Year 6 focused on form, tonal variation and mark making. They then used oil pastels to focus on blending colours and textural techniques to capture the rooster’s fine feathers. Finally, they used their drawings to create a composition for their rooster painting. The results, a variety of vibrant, bold and unique rooster inspired paintings that really strut their stuff and fluff Year 6’s feathers!
