Year 4 has been focusing on figures in their Art lessons. Inspired by the artist Keith Haring and his simple, geometric figures with their rhythmic lines, they put their energy into making cut out paper chain people.
Like Haring’s art, it was a lesson full of movement and fun! Lots of learning took place as the children folded paper to form accordion folds, named after the musical instrument and replicating it in the spring-like effects the zig-zag folds create. Next, it was drawing a Haring inspired figure with hands touching the edges, a vital rule for paper chain people making, and cutting out carefully to reveal… exactly what you can see in the picture below.
