For centuries, organisations and governments have needed to send information secretly. There are different ways to do this but the most common way is to hide information by using a code or cipher. On Wednesday, our RAF and Navy cadets made a scrambler to send their own secret message. 

They practised writing and decrypting messages to each other and they also created their own electrical circuit to try sending encrypted messages to each other using morse code.

Although modern forms of communication have moved on, the cadets were able to appreciate the challenges of sending and receiving information and the ingenuity of those that developed the Enigma machine.
