The excitement in the Music Department was palpable this week as the Senior Strings Group prepared to perform in Friday’s Celebration Assembly. This is the first time an SVPS instrumental ensemble has been able to perform all together in over a year!
At their first rehearsal altogether, the children were amazed at the incredible sound they produced en-masse. The thrill of hearing what they’d achieved spurred them on to give a really outstanding rendition of one of the pieces they are preparing for the Summer Concert later this term. If that performance was anything to go by, the Summer Concert should be a real treat – we can’t wait!
Looking even further ahead, if your child enjoys singing then why not encourage them (and a friend or two) to take part in the Kent Music Summer Singing Course? This is a hugely popular annual summer holiday course at Benenden School. It was cancelled last year due to Covid but it is back again this summer. It’s a wonderful opportunity for children who enjoy singing to have fun with friends and progress their vocal skills at the same time. There is a fantastic range of great courses for instrumentalists too. Please do check it out – a link to the web page is here.
