Our Year 6 pupils have been consolidating everything they have learnt in French since Nursery, to give them an advantage when they move schools next year.

Aside from gaining cultural knowledge of France by studying iconic French monuments, such as the Eiffel Tower and Versailles Castle, they are now practising, more intensively, their speaking, listening and reading skills.

They have recently been practising dates and birthdays. In their last lesson, after having done a class birthday survey and sung Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire?, they played Celebrity Bingo! Everyone was given different Bingo cards with several celebrities’ birthday dates, then, with accurate listening and reading, they shouted “Lotto!” when they have a full line. The game continues until one winner has a full card. They each say a date and the class guess which celebrity it is.

The Year 6 children are making excellent progress in French, with many achieving impressive understanding and speaking skills for their age. Well done!
