What a joyous occasion the Year 5 Informal Concert last Friday turned out to be! Despite this being their first live performance in over a year and a half, it transpired that the Year 5 children had not lost any of their performance panache or audience awareness.
They all announced their pieces with confidence before playing and bowed and acknowledged their audience with assurance afterwards. Each performance was polished, well-presented and demonstrated a high standard of musicianship. Instruments from all the families – strings, woodwind, brass and percussion – were represented, making for an eclectic and entertaining programme.
Best of all was the camaraderie and support that Year 5 showed each other as they each took their turn to play. Alongside the beaming smiles of the many proud parents in attendance, this added to the wonderful atmosphere in Bates Hall. Thank you, Year 5; what a treat!
Now we are all looking forward to this Friday when it will be the turn of Years 3 and 4 to take to the stage for their Junior Informal Concert at just about the time this newsletter is being mailed out. Good luck!
