A welcome pause comes this weekend with a warmly anticipated Exeat. It has been a very busy few weeks for students who, for the most part, have conducted themselves very well indeed, supported so ably and generously by teaching and support staff. I hope we will be able to recharge our batteries so that we can then enjoy the final three weeks of term in the run-up to Christmas.

It has been a pleasure leading mock interviews for some of our Upper Sixth students as part of their university application process this week. I have been most impressed with their ability to think on their feet and respond to a wide range of challenging questions and scenarios. Leading a Kingdon Society event on Tuesday was refreshing too, in that I could sense the academic desire among many of our students and their genuine interest in their studies was clear.

In assembly today, having given out a number of musical certificates, applauded our Public Speaking team and presented The Abbot Cup to the 1st XV, I talked to the School about our ongoing support of each other and how we can approach the final part of the term in a positive frame of mind so that we can all get the best out of it.

I am most thankful to the community for following our increased COVID protocols this week. As I have mentioned before a number of times, we have a responsibility both individually and collectively to each other. We are watching the situation very carefully and I ask that you bear with us as we make decisions about festive events.
