Preparatory School

Welcome to our school website.

Central to everything I believe in are the values of the school community and the happiness of our children.  These provide pupils with a strong feeling of structure and security which enables them to work effectively.  Yes, I have a passion for reaching for the highest possible standards inside and out of the classroom, and both I and the school have a long history of successful preparation of children for the next stage of their education, be that for our Senior School, the Kent grammars, or other schools.

That, however, should not come at the expense of childhood and I think what this school does so successfully is find that balance between delivering in terms of education, and yet doing so kindly and with many broad and interesting opportunities.  The school is very proud of its articulate and confident pupils who move on equipped to work things out for themselves, so crucial in our increasingly challenging world.

I have been fortunate to work in, and be involved in the inspection of, excellent schools both here in Kent and nationally.  This is a school which provides a marvellous and fulfilling education for all its children, a thriving network for its parents and a happy workplace for all who dedicate their lives to it.  It is also a fabulous place for my own two children to receive a first rate education and a wonderful home for Sophie and I to raise them.
